Dear Friends:
Thanks to you, our many customers, for continuing to choose us for your comfort needs - whether it's fuel oil, air conditioning or heating, heat pumps, lawn sprinkler systems, or air duct cleaning. We're proud to have served this vibrant area, growing with Volusia County for over 77 wonderful years.
In this age of big, impersonal corporations swallowing up small, independent companies, we take special pride in celebrating our third generation as a family business. Of our 60 employees, over half of them have been with us for eight years or more ... and 25% for over 20 years!
When my grandfather, Ucal Cunningham, opened our doors in 1928 along the railroad tracks at Second Avenue, I'm sure he had no idea we would grow to the size we have, nor did he envision the loyal "family" of employees we are so proud of.
Our business has changed dramatically over the years. Today it's heat pumps and energy efficient oil furnaces. But grandad's philosophy of giving customers a full measure of service with every full tank of fuel oil has only grown stronger.
From all the folks here at Cunningham, thanks again for trusting your family's comfort to us. And remember, we'll be ready when you need us - days, nights and weekends ... next year and into the next century.
Gratefully,
Lee Cunningham Culler, President
Third Generation Owner

Cunningham's Own "Iron Man" ...
FRED QUINTON SPARKS
8,830 Consecutive
Work Days ...
Cal Ripkin would
be proud!
28 year Cunningham Oil & L.P. Gas Service employee Fred Sparks has worked 8,830 consecutive days without missing one ... not even for illness or vacation.
Fred accepted the "Cal Ripkin" Iron Man Award at a surprise ceremony in front of 45 cheering co-workers. When Fred started with Cunningham in January, 1967, he was one of 15 total employees.
During his 28 years, Fred passed up 370 vacation days, 140 sick days, and jokes that he consumed 44,150 cans of Pepsi Cola. When Fred first joined Cunningham, #2 fuel oil was 18 cents per gallon and kerosene sold for 19 cents a gallon. $1.65 an hour was the approximate minimum wage, and Cal Ripkin himself was only six years old.
In that year, the going interest rate was 6.25%, Ode to Billie Joe was the #1 song, Green Bay won Super Bowl 2, the Saturn V Rocket was launched, Ronald Reagan became Governor of California, and Cunningham changed from Gulf to Pure Oil Distributing.
